Domestic electrical installation

New regulations now apply to electrical installation work carried out in domestic properties. An amendment to the building regulations in 2005 introduced Part P, which covers electrical safety. The upshot of this is that most of the electrical work that you might like to do yourself in your own home is made prohibitive by the necessity to make applications to your local Building Control Authority and to have the work inspected. This can be very expensive.

The best thing to to is to get a suitably qualified electrician to do it. This means one that is registered with a government approved self-certification scheme, like the Domestic Installer scheme provided by the NICEIC. Ben Kitchener is a NICEIC registered Domestic Installer.

You can read more about Part P and the NICEIC Domestic Installer scheme here.
